“I want to be with you forever,” he whispered, kissing her temple. He didn’t even know if she was still awake to hear him.
“Then stay with me,” she murmured, snuggling up against him.
“You’re willing to marry me?” His voice trembled with emotion.
“I would love to.”
They hadn’t talked about marriage before; he’d worried that she was afraid of that kind of commitment. And he wanted to wait until he was certain he could support a family – even if the family was just the two of them.
“Wake up, Kel.” He shook her gently.
“I’m awake,” she said sleepily.
“No, I need you to be completely awake.” He sat up completely, and pulled her up with him. “Are you sure you want to marry me?”
“Owen, I wouldn’t’ve said it if I didn’t want to.”
“I’m going to hold you to it,” he warned her. “So you should be awake when you seal your fate.”
Kel sighed heavily. “Owen, I want to marry you. Will you please say you’ll let me have at least a couple of hours’ sleep?” She nestled down into the blankets and closed her eyes again.
