Title: Do You Remember
Rating (and Warnings): G
Prompt: #10 Iceskating
Summary: You should know by now that I suck at summaries Beware, i think it got a bit too soppy at the end.
Soft flakes of snow twirled and danced in the air. It was rather beautiful, except Gary got them in his mouth every time he went to speak.
"Do you remember how we used to go iceskating together, when we were first courting?" Cythera smiled, gliding along with ease. She looked stunning today, wearing a lush green dress with fluffy white trim, and holding a matching fluffy white muff. When he had first seen her that morning, Gary had thought she was holding a fluffy white cat. Luckily, he had realised what it really was just before he went to pat it.
"Yes, I remember." Gary couldn't help but smile at the memory too. "This was much easier back then."
Cythera laughed. "Well, we're older now. And you're stuck behind a desk all day."
That was true. He did try to exercise when he had the chance, but he was always so busy.
They skated along in silence for a moment. At one point, Gary had to resist the urge to lunge and grab his wife around the throat to keep his balance. Luckily, he recovered quickly.
"You look beautiful today," he said suddenly. The silence had been building up, and she was all that was on his mind. Next time, think before you speak, he told himself.
But she just looked at him, blue eyes lighting up, pink lips parted in a smile. Then she looked away, blushing. Gary felt like a boy again.
She reached her hand out to him and he took it, folding it around the crook of his arm. They skated along, talking softly, heads bent close together, a laugh emerging now and then. Their four young children skated along behind at a distance - like a line of little ducklings - entirely forgotten by the power of love, which still ran strong.
