Title: None of it Exsits
Rating: PG
Length: 440
Summary: Arram Draper makes a hard decision . ..
Author's Notes: This didn’t come out exactly how I see it in my mind . . . But I can’t think of how to word it, it’s frustrating, but I had to get it out of my head . . . so I apologize in advance . . .
Dr. Arram Draper looked through the little window and into the cell where the young woman sat in a corner, wrapped in a straight jacket. He had been working with her for 6 years, with no improvement. If anything she had gotten worse. He sighed, and turned towards the footsteps he heard coming towards him down the hall.
Dr. Reed was coming for an update on Daine Sarrasri.
The poor girl had come in at 13 years of age, after having witnessed her mothers murder. They had then tried to burn the house down, with her in it. She lapsed into a type of comatose state, which took several months for her to come out of. When she came too, she had claimed she had been living with wolves . . . But in reality she had been lying in a bed, or being wheeled around by Onua, a nurse who had taken pity on the poor girl.
She was the worst case of escapism he had ever seen.
She believed she had “wild magic”. a type of magic over animals. She also believed Arram to be her husband, whom was known in this world she had created, Tortall, as Numair, a powerful mage.
She had incorprated into her fantasy world other patients, nurses, doctors, and even the orderlies.
They had had to sedate her several times, and still kept her locked away while two particular doctors were present, Ozorne and Tristan, as she believed them to be evil mages and had on occation attacked them . . .
And then there was Nurse Varice, his wife, whom she went to attack, but had been stopped and given sedatives. She had apologized, but Varice had been terrified of the encounter, and refused to have anything to do with her, and the ward she was kept in.
As the years went along, she believed herself to be in a relationship with him, then to be his wife, and would often talk about their children. Finally he had had enough.
“You are not my wife, Daine. We have no children,” he had told her firmly. This patient had been causing problems in his marriage in more recent months. Varice felt he was not helping her to get better.
“You’re feeding her delusions, Arram!” she had screamed at him, just that morning.
He shook his head. The sounds of Daine calling to him, begging him to come back, to believe her . . .But he couldn’t. as he had tried telling her for years, “Galla, Tortall, the Conte’s, . . them and their children. . . none of it exists . . .”
