Title: Mortality Rating: G Length: 139 Summary: It's not always easy being the heir to the throne. Notes: There wasn't much on TV while I was babysitting, so I was writing lots of fic. “Aren’t you supposed to be at that meeting?” Alanna asked cautiously. “Maybe.” Alanna bit her lip and wondered if she should push it any further. “I hate being royal sometimes,” he burst out. “I hate having duties.” “Everyone has duties,” she pointed out. Jonathan glared at her and she busied herself with cleaning his boots. “Well, I’m sick of being told that I need to learn something for when I’m king or get practice at sitting through council meetings because I’ll be leading them when I’m king, or people telling me whenever I do something that I’ll make such a good king. It’s like…it’s like they’re excited that one day my father’s going to be dead.” “That’s not true at all.” He flopped backwards onto the bed. “I know,” he muttered. “It’s just that sometimes it feels like it.”

You've captured Jon's spoiled nature perfectly. I love how that permeates throughout, yet, through it all, we see that little gem about his love for his father. This was fantastic!
