Title: Hotblood Rating: PG-13 Words: 201 Summary: Sometimes a little something extra is needed to keep on going, but it's not always for the best.
Set: Thursday, 2nd of April, 246.
She knew that she had a good life. It wasn’t perfect, but she’d never had a chance to expect it to be. She had fairly decent clothes on her back, a roof over her head, and had food for her family often enough. She’d been lucky with her choice of husband too, he was a good man. What more was there to ask for? Still, she wouldn’t mind having more reliable work, both for her and her husband. They had the little ones to think of. It would be good to know there would be money and food every day and every week. Maybe with some money left over for a few nice extras. It would be nice to know that she could give her children a good future. Otherwise they’d end up growing up to lead a life like hers. And really, that was a pretty miserable thought. Orva Ashmiller sighed and shook her head. No use being gloomy, that wouldn’t help anything. Sometimes it was so hard to keep on going…but there were ways to help with that. She raised the jug to her lips and took the first fateful gulp of hotblood wine.

A great transition into the driving force behind her later actions.

Ooooh, me like. Very interesting to see that she cared very deeply for her family before she became a raging alcoholic.

I was hoping someone would explore the Ashmillers a bit... she fascinates me - it's a very good take on why someone would fall down that slippery slope. Well done!!
