Title: Fracture Rating: PG-13 Prompt: Same but Different Category: 250 words Word count: 142 words Summary: The Voice has seen his end. WARNING: CHARACTER DEATH.- - - He is proud of his heir; his son is the legacy he has created for Tortall. Roald will be a fair King, with the strength of his father and the compassion of his mother. Jonathan’s last coherent thoughts are, if anything, comforting. The blackness races through his veins. It taints everything it touches; blood, muscle and flesh. He has only moments until the end; he knows this, because he’s been here once before. The pain is blinding. He grits his teeth, a low growl escaping his mouth. The glass slips from his hand, shattering against the ground. Everything slows and he feels himself fracture into a thousand pieces. He is the Voice and this is his final passage. The last thing Jonathan sees is a pair of blue eyes, glittering with triumph. “I always knew-” he wheezes, with his final breath. “-son.”

Aww, this is really sad, but I also like how Jon's really calm about it. I love the description in here, you've written this really well!

Kat, wow! I had to read it through a couple of times to see if it's really saying what I thought it was saying. Awesome powerful story.
