Title: Six Roses Rating: PG Prompt: Number. Category: 250 words Word Count: 100. Summary: For Goldenlake Drabble Tournament. He plants roses.
In the garden he would plant roses.
One for each of them, to twine around his heart and remind him he wouldn’t ever be alone. A symbol of what it had cost to get him here, a palace, a home. A symbol for the man he was. A symbol of the heart that had shattered, piece by piece until it was only him that was left.
One for each of the deaths that had ruined his life. And as he leaves the garden, the roses glisten with his tears.
Six roses for the only people who ever held his heart.

This hurts, but fits the character perfectly. Wonderful job.

This is so beautiful. I love how you left the character vague...except now I can't figure out who it is Dx [help!]

This is very beautiful- I'm jealous of your ability to convey emotion through so few words!

Thanks I first intended this as a Briar piece, but as I wrote it, it started to seem like it could be Jon as well. And then when I thought even further, it had a George -like feel to it as well. So it can be anyone, really, but they were who I had in mind.

Very nicely done. ^.^ For some reason I thought of Jon when I read it, but Briar makes a lot more sense.

There's something really beautiful and simple about this that I love. I thought of Jon, too.

I read this as Jon, and it broke my heart. But really, reading it as Briar is doubly painful!
