Title: Cincinnatus Rating: G Prompt: #1, Switch Category: 100 words Word count: 100 words Summary: He feels strangely odd and bereft without it. But this is Roald's task now and it is only right. (also posted to FFN: www.fanfiction.net/s/5089314/8/)Jonathan looks at the glittering crown on Roald’s head, and feels regret. The crown was never meant to sit comfortably on a man’s head and he does not regret losing the responsibility that comes with it. But he feels strangely bereft; the responsibility of a throne has changed him. Now he must let go of what it has made him. It hurts, but his time has passed. The crown has gone to King Roald. He resists the urge to advise Roald on matters of statecraft. This is Roald's task now, and it is only right. In truth, he misses it.- Sorry. This one just had to come out since it just popped out of me. It's one of those deeply personal ones.

Another great drabble - I love the inner conflict, and how you can say so much with only 100 words.

Switch of kings. Also a transfer of power, if you want to consider the more precise term. The crown has switched hands.

Well done. I like the struggle between giving up the responsibility for others on the one hand and loss of power on the other. I get the feeling from this that it gave Jon a status and a prestige that he'd been raised to aspire to, which he (presumably) used to make a difference for the better in Tortall. Now that he's bereft of that double-edged sword, he doesn't know what to do. That's what I took from the drabble, anyway. You've said a lot in 100 words.
