Title: The Final Straw Rating: PG Prompt: Switch Category: 250 words Word Count: 250 words. Summary: GDT drabble. Alanna and Ralon are no longer enemies.
This was it. The final straw.
She leaned heavily against the wall, lip clenched in an attempt to stop the tears.
She could handle his anger, his contempt. All for his later forgiveness. The beatings she had taken from him were washed away when he confessed. She hadn’t believed him, but, over time, she knew it was the truth. Despite how much she wished it wasn’t. It was time she confessed to her truth. He loved Alan. He had no clue Alanna existed. And so it was so that Ralon of Malven was the first to discover that Squire Alan should have been Lady Alanna.
Against everything. Against his return from being taken to the border on patrol as a squire and coming back changed. Changed, so that she hardly knew him. Against the advances that both the Prince – the Prince – and George had taken against her, and the wish that she had accepted George’s offer, time and time again.
This was it. She had been stuck in this for far too long.
It was obvious that Ralon and Delia were far more than ‘children of neighbouring fiefs’. She knew that she had been played, and that she wasn’t the only one. She’d ruined her friendship with Jon, George, Gary and Raoul. Ralon was too small a price to pay to get that back.
She wiped her face angrily, and set out, away from Ralon’s chambers, away from him and Delia.
She knocked on Jon’s door.
Her friends waited inside.

I thought I would quickly clarify a few things in a Author Note type: This caught my mind when I first read the Drabble post and it mentioned swapping enemies and making them lovers. As much as this disturbed me for these two, I couldn't get it out of my head and so this was written very quickly.
