One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and you’re no longer a soldier, no longer a great warrior.
‘It was a simple thing,’ he thought, looking down at his hands, his eyes focusing on the right, which would only ever form a half-hearted fist.
Such a simple thing.

Interesting. I had to read it three times to catch what it was saying, but I like it. Good job.

I don't think I meant it to be quite as obscure as it has turned out, but I'm glad you all liked it and found it interesting.

This is really good - I like the idea that small things have big effects, and that warriors are completely reliant on their physical fitness.

This must be really slow, but is that Duke Gareth?

Um *blushes* I was thinking vaguely of one of the strapping young men in the King's own in the later years of his life, but I hadn't actually choosen one. So . . . Yes? It is now Duke Gareth.
And warriors are incredibly reliant on physical fitness, but also the tools of their trade. If you look at the development of swords the blade changes little, but the vambrance? ----)= the ) part becomes incredibly complex. No one really mentions it, but I think there would have been a lot of fingerless blacksmith back then.

Never appreciated how much so little could affect any man, or warrior for that matter. I admire the way you spun this
