Title: The One With the Hair
Rating: G
Word Count: 259
Summary: He stands as a bastion of goodness in a land of neglect, brave Faleron; the One With the Hair.
Notes: For Clevertricks 'Hair/Faleron' request.
-
Faleron, whenever mentioned in polite company, is called many things: the Handsome Fellow, or the Charming Young Man. However, when older Lords sit around critiquing the many foibles of the youngest generation, they scornfully refer to him as 'the One With the Hair'.
It's a rather unfair title, in all actuality, seeing as several other knights are known for their long, vain locks, but there is something about Faleron and his black curls, even cropped short as they are, that drives a man to notice. What they miss, oddly enough, is Faleron's love of hair has very little to do with his own.
He is a man of taste; Faleron does his best to treat all people, regardless of their butchered, brittle hair, with dignity and respect. He manages quite well, all things considered, but he is a shallow man at heart. Faleron cringes at his cousin's brutally short bristle, mourning the vibrant red strands that should be coveted, adored. He bites his tongue at the sight of Queenscove's limp, lifeless brown mop standing next to the rippling perfection of his Yamani bride. Above all, he still respects Lord Cavall, bald and bare, proud as a man naked before tribunal.
So, as any true man of conviction, Faleron buys expensive oils and fine soaps to tend to his hair, using only the kindest brushes to smooth his curls. It matters, he insists, as any man of good breeding should know. He stands as a bastion of goodness in a land of neglect, brave Faleron; the One With the Hair.
