Title: Moth's Wings
Rating: PG13
Prompt: #11 Race
Summary: Miri and Evin. I couldn't resist!
A/N: The title's a song by Passion Pit, which I was listening to when I wrote this. Also, I feel like I need an icon or something that says 'fluff happens'
He walked his fingers across her bare stomach, making her skin break out in goosebumps. It would be dawn soon and the barracks would be noisy again. Miri revelled in the dark silence before the dawn: they were the only two, in their own little world of warm skin, soft kisses, and contented sighs.
"Are you nervous?" he asked her quietly. His index finger was now circling her belly button, his eyes soft.
"Me? I have no reason to be nervous."
"You don't? Not even a little?"
Miri turned her head to look at her lover. His light blonde hair was getting longer; it hung over his eyes. He looked genuinely concerned, his eyes searching.
She sighed. "I'm not cut out to be a leader. As much as I'd like to, as hard as I work for it...I guess it's just not for me."
Evin reached down to hold her hand, crossing his fingers with hers as he lay back to stare at the ceiling. "So...you don't mind? I mean, you won't feel as if I...robbed you of something, if I get it?"
He could be such an idiot sometimes, Miri thought. "No. It's not as if I started out wanting it or anything, it's not a race, and when you do get promoted tomorrow..." she rolled over to look at him in the darkness, "I'll be so proud."
As dawn broke over the palace grounds, all she could taste, see, feel, was his mouth against hers.
