Title: State
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: #36 - Rush
Summary: Nawat is seriously freaked by Aly's state.
Aly looked at her husband and her children. They were all sitting calmly looking at her; the look on her small children’s round faces was one of horror. Her husband just looked confused. He had never seen his wife like this before. She seemed to be possessed. Everything she owned was thrown into a single bag that had taken her a minute to pack after she had declared that she was going to Tortall. He thought her exact words were, “Ijusthadthebestidea.I’mgoingtoTortalltoseemyparentsandbrothers.ItwillbenicetoseeAlan’sgirlfriend.ImeanIcanbelieveIhaven’tmether.Whatwasthisfoolideaaboutstayinghere?MaybeafterwevisitTortallwecangototheYamanisorsomethingelse.Weneverhadarealweddingtrtip.Imeanwouldn’titbeamazing.Mymomwentoutadventuringbeforreshemarrieddad,butIneverdidanythingexcitinglikethat. . .”
He couldn’t be sure though because she kept talking a mile a minute and running around as though if she didn’t do something immediately it would not get done. He had never seen his wife like this before. He had seen her determined, driven, serious, kind, and loving, but he had never seen her like this. This women appeared to have forgotten about all her commitments in whatever this rushed, harried state was. Nawat was so confused, being a crow had never taught him how to react in a situation and neither had being a man.
After awhile of confusion, he decided that maybe she had gone mad from fever or something, and that even though he didn’t feel hot to her he should send for a healer. Summoning a servant to get a healer and someone to take the children to the nursery, he sat down and just thought. When the young Cathariki healer arrived, he took one look at Aly before turning to Nawat and asking, “Do you know if madness runs in her family?”
