On random buzz some one asked if Weiryn and Sarra like being grandparents. Tammy replied that they loved it, since none of Weiryn's previous grandchildren were part of his life. My reaction?

Somewhere in Corus there is an entire breed of demi-god cat. Faithful did a lot of disappearing in his day and he probably has lots and lots of kids kittens.

Ah, but he's not a God, according to Beka's books. He's a constellation. There's apparently a difference in the level of divinity. ^_^;;

Well then, there is a gaggle of glow-in-the-dark kittens running around Corus.

Me too. Except it would get annoying if it won't shut up. Assuming that Faithful's children can also talk?

I wonder what the Black God's kids would be like... or his lovers, for that matter.

I wonder if Weiryn would have to stop his escapades now. Or would Sarra have her own?

I wonder if goddesses can or do give birth to half-mortal children.

Anything created in the Divine Realms doesn't listen to their creators wishes. If something was conceived/born in TDR it would be an eternal rebellious teenager with divine power and knowledge.

So Kid would have to be both conceived and born in the Mortal Realm. (Which is very convenient because gods seem to follow the human model of reproduction & solstices/equinoxes occur at three-month increments (so kid conceived midwinter would be born on fall equinox, more or less.))

So does this mean there could be a basis for the doctrine of the divine right of kingship in the Tortall-verse?
I can't remember for sure, but was there ever anything about particular rulers believing they retained their right to kingship because they were descended from the gods? At some point at least one of these gods-born children had to grow up and try to capitalize on his (or her) pedigree.

Strapless: I am positive there is a bit in Lioness Rampant about the 'divine right of kings', before Jon's coronation. I don't think they're like some historical rulers and go around claiming to be related to gods. I don't recall anything about that. I think the belief is "if the gods didn't approve, we'd know." (See: Ozorne.) Also, remember that crossing between realms, in Tammy-verse, is only restricted to the great holidays for minor gods like Weiryn and Sarra. The Great Gods (except Gainel) can cross whenever they like.

I know the Japanese royal line (along with Egypt, Rome and the Aztecs/Maya/Incans) is supposed to be descended from the gods. So the Yamanis may believe it.

The divine right to rule is a very common and very effective tool in the old world. I don't know about the others, but in the Aztec/Maya/Inca civilizations it wasn't so much as descended from gods but being an extension of the gods here on earth.

Still, it could be used in Tortall.

So Weiryn had a few lovers then, over the years (one every hundred years = not a good score rate for a god, haha), but Sarra was the first he fell in love with? (since he cared enough to make her a minor goddess with him).

Maybe Sarra wasn't the first one he fell in love with, but maybe she was the first one who died when she was still good looking. Apparently he couldn't make her a goddess until after she was dead.

He might have been like a divine Numair, I think. He has lady friends but falls head over heels for Sarra. Who doesn't love a man with antlers.
I wonder what kind of powers his children had. Since Daine had a bit of wild magic and then got boosted by her fathers power. Maybe demigods have extra power.

I think I always assumed something similar to aniloverl - that the Ysandir were older/prior to/completely separate from Mithros & the pantheon of Gods we think of belonging to Tortall now.
Also, love the quasi-canon here and the knowledge that there are other God-kids.
I wonder what 'powers' children of other Gods have had - especially children of some of the Great Gods.

I might look up Numairs lineage. It might be that if they have power it gets boosted.
