“Sir Alanna,” she interrupted.
The nobleman gritted his teeth. “Sir Alanna, why is your husband dressed like that?”
This was the downside to secrecy and spymasters in the family. Alanna rubbed her head, finding that she had a sudden headache. She silently cursed her inability to think up something besides ‘That’s not my husband’, and wondered if it looked like the whole family really was mad.
“Da just does that sometimes, is all,” piped up Thom’s voice beside her.
Alanna ruffled his hair and smiled. “George was just playing with the children. Surely any good parent has done the same.”

Ha! I never actually thought about it, but it surely must drive Alanna insane to have to deal with some of the side effects of George's job.

I think it probably would sometimes! Although she'd get some pretty awesome benefits too, like the contacts on the Scanran border, and inside information.
