Title: A Fetching Shade. Rating: G Prompt: #1, Colour Summary: Neal generally didn't wear the Queenscove colours, if he could help it....
“It’s really rather fetching,” Kel said, face as blank as a cloudless sky, “it’s just rather surprising, is all.”
Roald, who had been schooled in the diplomatic arts from childhood, murmured “sets off your eyes.”
Merric could say nothing, what with the pillow stuffed in his mouth.
Neal glared at them all. “I’ll have you know amaranth dye was rarer and rather more valuable than purple, or even the Royal blue, back when the Queenscove colours were decided. It’s a sign of ancient status.” He sniffed, and tugged at his tunic. The historical precedence didn’t make it any less pink.
(If I have my canon confused, please let me know! But I think that's right.)

How does it go? Oh yes... So. Much. Love. Particularly the ending line, and, indeed, the whole of it particularly.

Hah! I always worried about Baird and his pink gift. Imagine the teasing from the other children...

Each and every line of this is several shades of awesome. Oh, Neal.

Haha. My mother is now wondering what I am snickering over, but it was well worth the parental confusion. This is fairly fabulous.

'Amaranth,' ahaha!
The buildup with all the reactions is great. Oh, Neal!

It could only happen to Neal. I loved the style in which you wrote it, with each character giving an opinion. It was a very nice touch.

I love all the characters' reactions, but Roald's is my favorite
Giggle--sets off his eyes indeed.
And Neal's little lecture was so wonderful!
Oh, and a question about another comment--didn't Duke Gareth have a pink Gift? Does Duke Baird as well?

Oh, Neal. :D
I think it was the Naxens who had the pink Gift, according to Tammy - or at least Gareth the Elder.
Still. Neal. In pink. LOL. I don't care if it's canon or not. And Queenscove's colours could have pink.

I remember Duke Gareth has a pink gift, and Baird's was green, but I have some inkling that Queenscove colours are pink. It may be fanon, but it's quite fitting.

Indeed. It's very fitting. LOL, Roald the diplomat. *pets Neal* His little lecture is so very Neal. Good one.
