General Fandom Terms
Canon - Facts contained within the content (books, in this case) published by the creator
Crack!Fic - Fic where characters are put in random, nonsensical situations. Generally humour pieces.
Drabble - A fic that is exactly 100 words long (also commonly used to describe ficlets)
Fanon - Facts established within fandom to the point that they seem like canon
Femmeslash - A female same sex relationship.
Ficlet - A short fic, usually under 500 words.
Flame - A rude or nasty comment in feedback. Never encouraged.
Fluff - Highly shippy fic with minimal plot
Futurefic - Exactly what the term suggests.
Gen - General fiction, without any romantic pairing
Genderswitch/Genderbender - A fic that includes a character or multiple characters having switched or changed gender
Het - A heterosexual relationship.
Jossed - Stories that started to become canon, but then canon itself changed, thus making the story AU. Term derived from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon.
Mary Sue - A character that is the idealized image of or from the author. A Mary Sue embodies a perfect character who solves all problems and is loved by everyone. (Except maybe by the readers.)
One-shot - A single chaptered fic.
Plot Bunny - An idea for a fic.
Prompt - A word, line or image that creates a plot bunny.
Quasi-canon - Facts that come from the creator (Tammy, in this case), but are not actual canon.
Rec - Recommendation. A fic, artwork or video that is found to be good by others and worthy of recommendation.
Remix - A fic written by a second author with permission from the first to create an entirely new or other story.
Round Robin - A fic or fics written by multiple authors taking turns.
Ship - A romantic pairing, be it slash or het.
Slash - A same-sex relationship. Can be used for male or female pairings, but sometimes indicates only the former.
Songfic - Fics inspired by songs, with lyrics used within the story itself for flair or effect.
Squick - Something that may repulse readers.
