Her skin was white, her hair was spread about her like a classic painting of a saint, and her eyes... her eyes were closed. A tawny cat was curled on her chest, and surrounding everything was a haze of sparkling black magic. Roses would have completed the picture -- but there were none.

"Daine," the man whispered, "Of all the mundane spells in the world, she had to trap you with this one?" He bunched a hand inside his cloak and replayed the scene in his mind. "She will prick her finger on a porcupine's quill, and sleep... sleep for eternity."

This is fantastic - I love the use of a porcupine's quill!
