I believe you can write longer fics if you'd like, but you won't get any extra points for it:

Darn, I won't be here for most of SMACKDOWN! Oh well, I'll have to be a spectator, then!

Are we allowed to cheer for whatever teams we support, or do we have to pick a team and stick to it?

When it comes to teams, anything goes! You can support or write for as many or as few teams as you want, and you don't have to stick to anything. Some people like to pick a team (or a few teams) to write for, other people just write for whoever they feel like during that round. (So if you want to cheer for another team in addition to Circlecest (or instead of), no one will stop you!) It's all up to you! But if you're still unsure about how to approach SMACKDOWN, you can always wait until the first round starts and see how everyone else acts. Though I'm not sure I'd really advise that, since it's entirely possible everyone will just go wild with fic like a bunch of headless chickens...

If we nominate a three- or foursome, do all characters from the pairing have to be in each drabble? Also, can drabbles be platonic and if so, can we specify that in our nomination? If you nominate a three/foursome (and they make it through to SMACKDOWN) all characters will have to be in each drabble submitted for that pairing. They don't have to all romantically involved, but they all have to be in the fic and the fic has to be about the three/foursome's relationship. The interpretation of any pairings that make it through is up to the authors who write for them. You cannot specify that you are nominating a platonic couple, but you can nominate the couple and (if they make it through) write platonic fic for them in SMACKDOWN. Following on from this, do all characters have to be physically in the fic? I mean, can we write a snippet of a dream someone's having? Is it acceptable to have character A thinking about what would happen if character B were around? Or reminiscing to themselves or someone else about character B, or daydreaming about Character B, etc?

So because I need the clarification, points/word count wise...
If you write something like, 501 words long, do you get 5 points or 4?

So because I need the clarification, points/word count wise... If you write something like, 501 words long, do you get 5 points or 4? The scoring's essentially 1 point per hundred words, so you'd get 5 points for a 500+ fic. If you wrote 499 you'd only get 4 points, but for 501 words, because you've hit the 500 mark you'd gain the 5 pts.

Cool thank you. That's what I figured would logically be the case, but me and numbers get all metaphysical and ridiculous a lot of the time so I confused myself, so I needed to check.

If we write a SMACKDOWN drabble inspired by an MPP prompt, can we count that drabble as an MPP response too?

Following on from this, do all characters have to be physically in the fic? I mean, can we write a snippet of a dream someone's having? Is it acceptable to have character A thinking about what would happen if character B were around? Or reminiscing to themselves or someone else about character B, or daydreaming about Character B, etc? No, the characters do not all have to be physically in the fic. As to what context they can be written in, it will depend on the actual entry and its focus - there is no hard and fast rule. Using your example - a fic where character A thinking about what would happen if character B were around would be fine as long the fic sufficiently focused on the relationship between the two characters (e.g. pondering marriage, worrying about their last fight, taking them home to their parents, etc). If character A thought of character B in passing, and then spent the next 200 words fantasising of a hot bath, the fic would not be considered to be sufficiently about the couple to be counted towards that pairing's total. If we write a SMACKDOWN drabble inspired by an MPP prompt, can we count that drabble as an MPP response too? Only after SMACKDOWN is over. Although SMACKDOWN authors draw on inspiration from a range of sources including MPP, SMACKDOWN entries can only be posted for the purpose of the competition while it is running (except during dedicated flood days). If your entry meets the MPP response requirements you are welcome to repost in the MPP forum it after SMACKDOWN is over, ensuring it is formatted and posted correctly for that particular forum.

If we're going to be away for a round or so, can we pass our fics to someone to post on our behalf during the round?

Can we write AU's for SMACKDOWN? Yes! So long as the couple in question is the focus of the fic, AU's are perfectly okay.

mistrali You cannot alter the original SMACKDOWN entries once the fight is over, but you are more than welcome to edit/rework them when you post them to TKO etc
