Title: At the Beginning Rating: PG Character: Rikash Moonsword Event: 100 word dash Words: 100 Summary: As hard as he tries, as long as he ponders, this is it.
His first memory is not of light, or of his mother’s face, or the whisper of air upon new skin.
Instead, Rikash remembers a voice, deep and careful, spinning tales of the glorious days filled with this marvelous thing called war. Everywhere, a bounty of food. Nations of Stormwings, their champions, rife with magic, jousting for personal prestige and for their nation’s hierarchy.
Rikash is told that this voice belongs to a fierce raven-haired warrior with as many kills as feathers, one who crooned lovingly to his unborn son. His father, pierced by a mortal’s steel arrow.
Rikash hates mortals.

I still love this I really, really, really love the way it's so soft and dreamy at the beginning, and how hard and powerful that last abrupt sentence hits you. Rikash hates mortals. *shivers*
