Title: No regrets Rating: G Prompt: #65 Cheaters never prosper Summary: The Lioness weighs the pros and cons of breaking the rules.
The Lioness stood on the balcony of the Castle in Pirates’ Swoop. The wind was a bit salty but cool. It was perfect for summer night.
She was contemplating the words of a wise man. "rules were there to be followed, not to be sidetracked," he'd once said.
But for years of her page and squire-hood, she’s taken off in the dead of the night to go down to the lower city unpermitted. That rule wasn’t that hard to bend and it had no consequences. In fact, it was one of the best decisions she’d made. “Alanna?”
She spun to see her husband at the door. “Yes?”
“Are you coming to bed?” he asked.
Alanna shook her head and turned back to the railing. “I’ll stay out here for a while.”
He stepped toward her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “What’re you thinking about?”
She turned her head to face him. “I’m thinking about my page days.”
He cocked an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I remember all those rules we broke. Sneaking into the lower city.”
“But do you regret it?” he asked coyly.
She turned and wrapped her arms around his neck. He kissed her sweetly, the spark from the first kiss still there and burning.
Alanna pulled back before she forgot what she was supposed to say. “I don’t regret it in the slightest. Besides, rules were meant to be bent and broken.”
