Title: Worn Summary: Dom reflects on his preferences. Rating: PG Prompt: 1-Color
He used to like bright colors and flirtation, because it woke him up.
Sometimes Dom felt like he was living in a haze, especially when he came back from one too many destroyed village, having seen far too many hollow eyes that forced him into an unfriendly place and questioned his very existence.
So he tried to forget them, to wake up, by flirting with ladies in brightly colored dresses that he could grasp—sometimes literally—to pull himself out of his self pity.
But now he found a certain solace in well-worn green and homespun breeches. He grew to depend on the beauty they had, the beauty that instead of coming from the shade, came from the wearer herself. Bright colors may have been a handhold to pull him back up, but Kel was the rock that kept him from going over the edge.

This is really pretty writing and felt very true to Dom's character- both in canon and fanon (which too often are wildly different).
I especially like the last line.

This is really good! I agree with Tamarichan about it feeling true to Dom's character

Thanks to you both! I wanted to do something with color and the difference between Kel and court ladies for Dom (also may have had something to do with the fact that I just reread POTS because I am way too obsessed with Neal).
