Summary: A scene that was only ever spoken about in SOTL
“Let me go after her, I can take her down. I know I can,” Josiane begged of him.
His blue eyes were crinkled with amusement. Josiane couldn’t understand how a man had time to be amused at a moment like this.
“She’d be in that insufferable brother’s room, no doubt." Roger stroked his chin. "Frankly, I don’t think you can take her … but you’re most welcome to try.”
With that Roger let out a chuckle. It was that same chuckle that haunted Josaine as the axe sliced through Si-Cham. It was that chuckle she heard, constantly replaying in her mind, as she took her final breath lying on the floor of Thom’s chambers.
Even in death, Roger’s chuckle haunted her.
