Title: To Thieves As To Crows Rating: G Prompt: color/colour Summary: Like daughter, like mother, when it comes to attracting men with the magpie gene.
George has a taste for bright, startling shades, for beauty splashed across silk screens or on a woman's fingers. Paint, jewels, it doesn't matter. Vivid colors, that's the thing. To thieves and crows alike.
So it oughtn't shock him so when he finds himself falling, slower, harder than he's ever fallen for a less forbidden treasure, for Alanna. For the way she moves like light on cut glass; for that hair; for the way she holds her dreams in her mouth, sweetly obvious. Even for those unnatural purple-threaded irises, strangely compelling in this pale-eyed city.
But it shocks him anyway.

Really great imagery - I love the idea of somebody holding their dreams in their mouth.

Thank you both! Rosie - I'm glad you liked the imagery, because I was rendered obnoxiously self-satisfied by it.

*faints quietly* Oh my God, I wish I could do imagery like that.
(Just watch me congratulate myself on getting you here and writing brilliant fic like this!)

THIS is what a drabble should be - with every word pulling triple-duty and a meaningful title* and ♥
*which, I love your title. Didn't "get" it til the third or fourth read-through, but when it clicked, it was a glorious moment of, OH!

It's surprising - and nice! - to get a sweet and soft image of Alanna, someone who I would sooner say is loud in her actions and views. Aw, George is smitten.

I loved this. Color is so much a part of alanna, with the hair and the eyes, and seeing her and that through George's eyes was so wonderful!

Bows and lands flat on her face. That was incredible you have this incredible of looking at these things sideways so no one else sees them. Wonderful job.

Oh.
Now, prepare to watch Lanna fall over herself with enthusiasm.
You have made this George fangirl very, very happy. Weak in the knees, both for the way you captured him and for the way you capture what's so great about the English language. You have also reminded me why I adore the drabble format. This was exquisite.
