Title: Strange New World Author: rosiexrainbow Fandom: Tamora Pierce’s Tortall Rating: PG Summary: Malorie's Peak Prompt #8 - Strange Bedfellows Length: 162 words. Author's Notes: *Evil laugh* You were all lovely about my first ficlets I posted here, so I am submitting you to MOAR!
Lying here in this luxurious four-poster bed with its silk sheets and crimson velvet drapes, Arram Draper - no, it was Numair Salmalín now! - did not feel at home. The bed was just too soft; he had been sleeping on common room floors for the last eighteen months. Disgusted, he flung the covers off and strode to the balcony. He breathed in deeply and considered his situation.
He looked up at the twinkling stars in the endless black velvet sky. The beauty of it paled next to her. It was clichéd, he knew, but her eyes shined brighter than any star; her hair was more lustrous than the velvet of the night sky.
King Jonathan had taken him in, promising a home and a truce with Ozorne in return for service to the crown as a mage. Numair could not feel grateful to the King, not when Jonathan had the only thing he truly desired in this strange new world.
Thayet.
